The new Blackberry Bold 9900 is also known as the BlackBerry Dakota and BlackBerry Magnum. The phone after its release in the month of august 2011, already had an advantage over iPhone 4 because of its QWERTY keypad.
The BlackBerry 9900 sports a touch screen of 2.8 inches that displays contents at 640 x 480 pixels. This feature could be a negative aspect for many customers because of the small screen and low graphic pixel. The iPhone 4 on the other hand has the LED-backlit IPS TFT, capacitive touchscreen which offers its users a resolution of 640 x 960 pixels.
Processing abilities of the iPhone 4 is excellent with a 1 GHz Cortex-A8, Apple A4, 512 MB RAM and a GPU of PowerVR SGX535. The Blackberry Bold runs faster than its competitor because of its 1.2 GHz processor and 768 MB RAM.
Storage and Network
The iPhone 4 comes in three versions of storage: 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB. The BlackBerry 9900 on the other hand, can handle 8 GB worth of contents in its internal memory but can still be extended using a microSD card up to 32 GB. The Phone
When it comes to the number of networks supported, the iPhone has the advantage because it handles both CDMA and GSM support. The BlackBerry 9900 is only an improved version of BlackBerry Bold which only supports GSM networks out of the three BlackBerry smartphones.
The iPhone 4 boasts an iOS 4 operating system which supports applications like Twitter integration, iMessages, iReminder, Notification Center, and photo-editing applications.
The BlackBerry 9900 runs on BlackBerry Operating System 7 which enables the phone to have a touchscreen feature, browser, Messenger 6, Liquid Graphics, and applications support for the BlackBerry App World storefront. Those who prefer secure internet browsing can do so using its BlackBerry Internet Service.
The Blackberry 9900 features a 5 Megapixel primary camera at 2592 x 1944 pixels with autofocus, LED flash geo-tagging, face detection and image stabilization while video capture is at 720 pixels. The device doesn’t have a secondary camera for video calling though.
On the other hand, the Apple iPhone 4 has a similar camera setup of 5 Megapixel with similar resolution like the BlackBerry smartphone. Its features includes autofocus, LED flash, touch focus, geo-tagging but the video capture at 720p also has some additional features with an LED video light and video geo-tagging as well as video-calling over Wi-Fi connections. This device comes with a secondary camera excellent for video calling.
The BlackBerry 9900 has positive aspects, but has few major downfalls when it comes to design. The device occupies a QWERTY keyboard making the screen tiny. However, it has a good camera, a great processor and an excellent operating system, and despite being smaller the display quality is decent.
Storage capabilities is significantly less than the iPhone 4 which overall is the better handset with more camera features, a larger and more delightful screen, more storage space, a good processor and a fascinating design to top it off.
