Ice Cream Sandwich Android – Find Out the Changes

Ice Cream Sandwich or ICS is Android’s latest version. This version is already available for use on the latest smartphones and tablets. These devices are built to take proper advantage of the new features available in Android v4.0.

New Font

For those who use the Ice Cream Sandwich Android version, did notice that the old font of Droid Sans is replaced by the Roboto. Roboto is a typeface designed for the small, high-resolution screens that users of smartphones and tablets have, bringing a slick, updated feel to the interface.

The dictionary and spell-checking have been updated for better error correction and word suggestion.

They have worked to improve the identification of double-typed characters, missing spaces and skipped letters. In the suggestion strip, suggested words will now only show three at a time.

One of the best improvements in this group is the spell checker as it will now underline misspelled words and suggest replacement words. Words that are unrecognized can now be added to the dictionary manually.

Screenshots

Some users really feel important to take screen shots and have missed the feature previously. Now you do not need to tamper your Android phone or Tablet or install third-party apps. You can now take a screenshot by holding down the volume down key and the power button. This will capture the screen and put it in your photos.

Voice Commands

The Ice Cream Sandwich comes with the ability to receive voice commands. You can use the talk-to-text feature to give your phone commands or dictate text messages.

Updated Camera

Android’s camera were lacking in its previous versions, this time they have come up with some great improvements that were gained with some help from Samsung. Android v4.0 devices will now have 1080p video, the shutter lag has been removed, easier photo and video sharing, tap-to-focus, face detection, photo filters, and a photo-stitching panorama mode that allows you to move the camera to take one continuous picture.

Android fans were waiting for many of these features for a long period of time. You can now share captured photos to Google+, text message, Bluetooth, Email and Picasa with ease and edit them as well.

Better Browser

The new Chrome mobile Web browser can be now found in the ICS that syncs bookmarks with other versions of Chrome that you have on your desktop or laptop as well as other mobile/tablet devices. You do not have to worry anymore when you are on the road and unsure of signal availability as the browser can now save pages for offline reading. The Chrome mobile now comes with the ability to open up to 16 tabs at once and has been updated to provide amazing speeds.

Sharing

You can now share contents with other Android devices easily using a secure Near Field Communication (NFC) app called Android Bump. This application will allow two Android devices to share websites, maps, contacts, applications and play games together, based on the NDEF Push technology,

Copy and Paste

Copy and paste functionality has got a new dimension and is much easier to use. You can now move around whole blocks of text.
